Asbestos
Although it was banned from 1999 and is only harmful when the internal fibres are released, asbestos is still a danger today due to the fact that it is still present in a large number of older buildings built pre-2000. Prolonged exposure to asbestos can cause asbestosis, a lung disease which impairs breathing and can lead to more serious pulmonary issues. The best ways to prevent asbestosis is to ensure that work place safety is treated with the upmost importance. Face masks must be worn, and when disposing of asbestos, you must make sure not to create any unnecessary dust. And people working with it must have the correct training.
